"BLACK AGE XXV"
"Facts, Fun, Fiya, & Funk!"
A virtual convention in real - time!

"This Week of Juneteenth, 2021, finds me sending much luv to the vital
in the historic Bronzeville District of Chicago as it explodes with its 80 Years of Service celebrations week!
This registered, former WPA art facility, National Treasure is where we,
, were fortunate to have launched the growing Black Age of Comics genre / movement in 1993. Now I am honored in having my indie character, "NOG: The Nubian of Greatness", published in 1981, that opened the door to the
, by being featured mural sized at the current amazing group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, called, "Chicago Comics: 1960 until Now!" Curated by Dan Nadel. What a cool timely convergence of creativity, cultures, and commerce."

Prof. Turtel Onli, M.A.A.T.

The BLACK AGE OF COMICS was officially launched in 1993 with the definitive forward thinking article written by Prof. Turtel Onli, M.A.A.T., published in The Comics Buyers' Guide in February of that year.

Onli choose righteously Black History Month to announce the genre then he along with associates of ONLI STUDIOS produced the world's first ever, indie Black Age of Comics Convention.

That was in February of 1993 at the National Treasure, The South Side Community Art Center, in the historic Bronzeville district of Chicago.  The SSCAC is the last functioning art center from the WPA days.  The likes of Gordon Parks, Charles White, BAG: The Black Arts Guild, and Elizabeth Gatlith along with others worked and emerged from there.

2021 is the 80th anniversary of the
South Side Community Art Center.

This first convention benefited from tangible support from Milestone Media and Ebony Magazine's Executive Editor, Herbert Nipson.  Milestone's co- founder Dwayne McDuffie and Onli planned the coordinated launch of both
crucial forces during that culturally rich month. Milestone Media as an multicultural publisher and the Black Age as a genre / movement.

ONLI STUDIOS LLC has not only produced its landmark event in real spaces or in this virtual format, but it has welcomed and supported the participation in this magnificent movement in the form of ECBACC, The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, Motor City Black Age of Comics Convention, ONYX_CON, MECCA CON and others like Pocket Con.

Being the founding convention's producer and a visual visionary, Onli feels this natural expantion and supportive exchange displays beyond a doubt that it is a movement with unlimited growth potential in terms of creativity, culture, and commerce, We welcome the opportunity to earn your participation and deliver to you the best services and innovative products in the industry.

Onli was a major market illustrator with international clients and a Fine Artist known for his brilliant  Rhythmistic innovations.  Plus he worked in Chicago as an Art Therapist , Art Educator.  His operation ONLI STUDIOS LLC has been publishing & promoting indie comix and Graphic Novels since 1981.
